Life Skills Academy & Campus Living
What began as The Middle Ground Network has grown into a comprehensive, campus‑style transition program designed to support high functioning neurodiverse young adults as they launch into independent adulthood. Presenting Ostera Life Skills Academy and Campus Living!
Mission Statement
Ostera empowers autistic and other high functioning neurodiverse young adults ages 18–26 to build meaningful, self‑directed lives through real‑world learning, supported living, and pathways to competitive employment. Our campus provides a safe, inclusive, strengths‑based environment where students gain the skills, confidence, and connections needed to thrive with independence, purpose, and belonging.
Who We Are
Ostera blends the best practices of the nation’s leading transition programs with the warmth, innovation, and opportunity of the Huntsville–Madison region. Our residential campus gives young adults the structure, support, and community they need to practice independent living while building friendships and learning to navigate life away from home.
We believe every young adult deserves the chance to live a meaningful, self‑directed life and aim to partner closely with families to create individualized plans that honor each student’s strengths, needs, and goals. Students are respected, supported, and empowered every step of the way.
Who We Serve
Whether a student is entering the workforce after high school or pursuing college with additional guidance, Ostera supports young adults on diverse paths. Our programs help students develop practical life skills, workplace readiness, and social‑emotional confidence.
At the heart of our mission is opening doors to employment and independent living. We foster inclusive residential environments where students can roommate‑match with peers of similar neurodevelopmental profiles, creating supportive living situations beyond the family home. At the same time, we help parents build the confidence to “let go,” giving their young adults the space and support they need to grow.
We are just getting started! Stay up-to-date with our progress and join the discussion.
